On the 3rd of October there is every year in Kerkrade (The Netherlands) a big fabric market. As in the last year and that before I was there with my friends today even though it was rainy and quite cool in the morning. But we were lucky as later the sun came through and it was almost nice in the sunshine. A perfect summerday consists of sun, blue sky, flat sea and a slight wind, just enough to let the kites fly. And this we enjoyed at the North Sea on the small and pretty island of Römö.Continue reading “Rømø – Sun, Beach and Fabric”

As already told I visited the Dutch Fabric Market last year with my sewing friends. While my fabric that I bought then is ripening my friend was quicker and sewed a shirt and a loop out of her fabric. The little left over pieces she gave to me as she knows that I like scraps for doing applications.
Seeing the scraps I immediately knew what to do with them – a small bag fitting to her new outfit. With the ready measurements of 19cm by 19cm it has room for a mobile phone, hankerchiefs and all the other small things that a woman needs for an outing. Thank God, greens are not my colours otherwise I might have kept that sweet little bag to myself.
At least I made up my mind and have the resolution that until the next market in Mai I will use one of my fabric for a dress or shirt and make myself a similar matching bag!
At the beginning of October I visited the Dutch fabric market again with my friends – just as we had arranged a year before. Then it had been cold but this time we had wonderful warm and sunny weather and so we could enjoy all the wonderful stalls – a dream come true for all fabric lovers and sewists. You could not say that Continue reading “A Visit to the Dutch fabric market”
