Before our holidays FruBlomgren set up a new contest themed Zakka. Zakka??? Never heard of that, what does it mean? Thanks to wikipedia I learned that Zakka is Japanese meaning miscellaneous things. It is a fashion phenomenon that spreading from Asia to us. The term refers to anything that improves your appearance, life and home. Zakka has also been described as “the art of seeing the savvy in the ordinary and mundane”. But who believes that zakka is merely another in a series of consumer fads is wrong as zakka also touches issues of self-expression and spirituality. A truly Zakka object is not only attractive but also sensitive and laden with subtext.
That really cries for adding attraction to everyday things by embroidery – and then Marianne offered so enchanting designs I could not resist partaking though I had little time next to the preparations for the family holiday. Ideas bubbled up but I had to restrain myself to one zipper bag for my vitamines – back and front.
Every morning of the holidays when I took my vitamines the pouch made me smile. And for the next holiday I will do mug rugs with Zakka designs so that the smile returns with every meal.
