Such a wonderful golden autumn! When I was sewing a dress for myself in May I did not think that I would have so many opportunies to wear it this year. I rarely wear dresses but at a visit at the Dutch fabric market I had seen a panel that I immediately fell in love with: an aquarell painting of a lake with sailing boats on it. With it went a pattern (Linda by Nova Scotia).
But I could not cut the wonderful painting before I knew that Linda would be a good pattern for me. So I had to do a test dress and I uses some old grey jersey out of my stash. When testing the cut fabric I was so satisfied that I knew I would wear the finished dress if it would not be so dull.
Fittingly FruBlomgren started a contest for a summer dress and I decided to partake with my grey dress which I embellished with all the lovely cat designs by FruBlomgren I had been hoarding. These contests are so good for me as they force me to do the project I have in mind during a certain period of time if I want to partake. And partaking I want as the booby prizes are always so lovely!
That I would win more then the booby prize never crossed my mind and so I was very astonished – and of course overjoyed – that I actually won the third prize with my cat dress especially as I have some work on being a good model. What a compliment!
Part of my prize was a pattern by Freuleins for the dress Ibela. I already habe bought the fabric (and also the designs as embroidery it must have), well lets see when I will be brave enough for them … ah, and the pretty panel is also waiting for my courage to rise…
